ECSE 421 RB6
I enjoyed this week because we were able to learn a lot about the parent’s role in working in the family and how the mother and the father work very well together because they both provide different strengths to the family unit that help the children learn and grow. This week I learned through reading the material, listening and reading what my peers had to say about the topic, and through listening to those that have gone through or are still going through situations like this. I really liked how I learned this week and want to keep it the same for next week. I probably learned the most from my peers this week. It was nice to learn and connect with others as we participated in the group discussion boards. I learned a lot this week but I know that there is still a lot left to learn till I will be able to confidently help families that are struggling with their children who have special needs. As we worked with our group on our group projects we were able to learn a lot from each other as we proof read and made revisions to our projects.

This week while working on our family projects I received a lot of insight of just how hard it is to help children who are not diagnosed with a specific disorder. Finding the right help and knowing what steps to take can be really hard. One thing that I did this week to try and find help for our little boy was taking what we did know and then finding help for those specific struggles. There are a lot of limitations when a child is not specifically diagnosed, so if there is any way they can get tests done to be diagnosed that is the route they would want to take so they can get more direct help tailored to their specific needs.
My source this week was mostly those in my class and Sister Swenson but I also found some information here: https://www.masters-in-special-education.com/special-needs/
